We thank everyone for the tremendous support of our previous year’s BikeMS events.

Our goals are to provide comprehensive, state-of-the-art amateur radio communications to support the MS Society, and at the same time to encourage as many amateurs as possible to participate in what has become the largest Public Service Events in Michigan. We need your continued support to expand the role of APRS and voice communications. The BikeMS event is one of the largest Amateur Radio public service event in Michigan. It requires a minimum of 35+ amateurs, to cover some 200+  miles of route, plus rest stops, and some 20+ mobile units each day. Each amateur that participates in the two day event supplies his or her own equipment, mainly consisting of a UHF MotoTrbo/DMR radio, Magnet Mount antenna, cigarette lighter socket Y adapter, and power cords. If the ham doesn’t have DMR equipment we have built up enough loaner gear now to outfit each position so that all units can stay on one system.  Food and lodging for Saturday night are provided for by the MS organization. The event starts promptly at 7am Saturday and concludes late Sunday afternoon after the last rider arrives back.

We have 3 BikeMS events set for Michigan this year, first is the West Michigan Ride June 6-7, 2020. The next event up is the Mid Michigan Ride July 18-19,2020 and the Bavarian Breakaway in Frankenmuth September 26-27,2020.  You can sign-up to help with communications for all 3 events from the single sign-up page.

If you have any questions not answered on the site, please email Fred, W8FSM.  We currently have many open assignments for either Saturday, Sunday, or both days.

73, Fred – W8FSM, BikeMS Amateur Radio Communications Manager (ARCM)
